Empowering Women in a Digital Age in South Africa

For women to be truly empowered, policies must tackle socio-cultural attitudes, negative perceptions, as well as other determining factors such as inequality in access to health services, violence against women, and lack of political representation. In this commentary, the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) explores the challenges and opportunities for women’s empowerment in South Africa in a digital age, with a focus on issues of access, labour market participation, and financial inclusion.
